These 12 Promises may seem idealistic, exaggerated, or extravagant at first, but they really are possible. As we thoroughly and honestly work the program through Step 9, we start to notice new attitudes and feelings in ourselves. Some of these promises may be realized quickly, others slowly, but they all develop naturally as a result of honestly working the EA Program.
During the year 2020, the EAI Board reflected on the the 12 Promises of the EA Program.

Promise 1: We realize a new freedom and happiness.

Promise 2: We do not regret the past or wish to shut the door on it.

Promise 3: We comprehend the word serenity, and we know peace of mind.

Promise 4: No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we see how our experience can benefit others.

Promise 5: The feelings of uselessness and self-pity lessen.

Promise 6: We have less concern about self and gain interest in others.

Promise 7: Self-seeking slips away.

Promise 8: Our whole attitude and outlook upon life changes.

Promise 9: Our relationships with other people improve.

Promise 10: We intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.

Promise 11: We acquire a feeling of security within ourselves.

Promise 12: We realize that God is doing for us what we could not do ourselves.
